30 Links in 30 Days Linkbuilding Campaign - Day 8 - Technorati

Note: This post is now out-of-date. Technorati is now completely irrelevant for SEO as of 2010-01-07.

Technorati is Dead, Long live Technorati

One of the sad things about the Internet and the Google ranking algorithm is that sites which by virtue of age (and a little traffic) are considered valuable. But those of us with elderly relatives know that at a certain point senility gets to everyone.

That said, it is true that the Technorati page needs to age in order to acquire PageRank -- as do most pages on the web. This means it is best to create the Technorati profile and blog claim pages sooner rather than later, and to also add links to the Technorati blog page to your own site and other link profiles such as the Google Profile.

Technorati Blog Page PageRank

PageRank on a four-year old Technorati blog page for Jeff McNeill is a healthy PR3. This of course provides a nice follow link to the page in question. Yummy.

Technorati Requires RSS

To register a blog an RSS feed must be available for the site. This is simple when using a content management system such as WordPress or MediaWiki.
