30 Links in 30 Days Linkbuilding Campaign - Day 9 - Wikidweb

Wikidweb is one of a few actual web directories that we suggest our clients use in their linkbuilding campaigns. Why? Several reasons.

Why use Wikidweb?

  • First, it is a basic wiki using WikiMedia, the wiki software that runs Wikipedia--namely it is easy to use.
  • Second, you do the editing, not some anonymous (or non-existent) bot or black hat fiend who has somehow gotten in charge of a section to edit, or some other know-everything who doesn't want to soil their precious list with your unimportant entry. Yeah, you know who I mean.
  • Third, this site has real potential as it seems (currently) to have little spam, while having a decent amount of traffic (24,220 in Alexa and home page has PageRank 4 as of 2009-11-02).
  • Fourth, its a wiki, therefore there is wiki-fun to be had!

The value is there in this site--not so much in the short term (though one-way links from legitimate sites are always of value), as in the medium and long term. And that, folks, is how we do our linkbuilding. These are medium and long-term strategies and tactics.
